When my son had a serious sports accident, we were sent from the hospital to Orthopädie Scharpenberg because we needed an orthosis. We were given a very warm welcome, hardly had to wait at all, and the product was explained to us very clearly. We received excellent care in every respect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of leg prostheses are there?
Leg prostheses differ depending on the level of amputation: below-knee, above-knee, and hip disarticulation prostheses. Each type requires individual adaptation to the physical characteristics and lifestyle.
What is an interim prosthesis?
The interim prosthesis is used early after the amputation. It serves to facilitate initial mobilization, promotes the healing process, and allows for a targeted fitting of the final (definitive) prosthesis later on.
How long does it take to receive a leg prosthesis?
The duration varies from person to person. After amputation, treatment usually begins with an interim prosthesis. Depending on wound healing, the progress of rehabilitation, and approval by the health insurance provider, the final prosthesis is usually fitted after several weeks to months.
How much does a leg prosthesis cost and who covers the costs?
The costs vary depending on the technology, materials, and range of functions. Generally, statutory or private health insurance covers the costs; we support you in communicating with the insurance provider and submitting the application.
Can I play sports again with a leg prosthesis?
Yes, many prostheses allow for sporting activities, from running to cycling. We would be happy to advise you individually and adapt your prosthesis to your sporting activities.
What is a prosthetic cover and what is its purpose?
A prosthetic cover is a visual covering that conceals the inner workings of the prosthesis. It can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing and is manufactured precisely and individually using 3D printing.
