Why orthotic shoes are so important

Orthoses make a valuable contribution to mobility, but they only reach their full potential with the right shoes. Regular street shoes quickly reach their limits: too narrow, too unstable, too impractical to put on and take off. Orthotic shoes are specially designed to ideally integrate orthoses while simultaneously increasing comfort. Generous openings, reinforced soles, secure closures – all these features ensure that every step is easier. And best of all: you don’t have to sacrifice style or enjoyment of life.

When my son had a serious sports accident, we were sent from the hospital to Orthopädie Scharpenberg because we needed an orthosis. We were given a very warm welcome, hardly had to wait at all, and the product was explained to us very clearly. We received excellent care in every respect.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between orthotic shoes and normal shoes?
Orthopedic shoes are specifically designed to accommodate foot and leg orthoses. They offer more volume, better support, and special features such as reinforced heels or flexible closures.
Do you always need orthotic shoes if you wear an orthosis?
Not necessarily, but many everyday or sports shoes don’t offer enough space or stability. Orthopedic shoes increase wearer acceptance and significantly improve gait.
Are there also fashionable orthotic shoes?
Yes! Many models today are virtually indistinguishable from conventional shoes. There are even colorful designs for children and elegant versions for adults.
Are orthotic shoes covered by health insurance?
Generally, yes, if they are prescribed by a doctor and there is a medical necessity. We would be happy to advise you on this in detail.
Which brands of orthotic shoes do you carry?
We work with renowned manufacturers such as Schein, Perpedes and Nowecare to ensure high quality and a reliable fit.
