Endo-Exo Prostheses
Alternative care for greater wearing comfort and quality of life.
What does endo-exo prosthetics mean?
In endo-exo prosthetics, a load-bearing element is firmly anchored in the bone and guided through the skin, where a prosthetic component can be easily attached. This technique offers a solution particularly when conventional socket prostheses cannot be worn permanently due to skin problems or volume fluctuations.

Our services at a glance
More freedom of movement
Significantly increased range of motion through direct power transmission and fewer limitations.
Secure hold without a shaft
The absence of a traditional prosthetic socket results in fewer pressure points and no chafing. For greater comfort in everyday life.
Real ground feel
Noticeably improved proprioception for a more natural gait and better balance.
Easy to use
Docking and undocking is quick and easy, even for those with limited mobility.
Longer walking distances possible
The direct coupling allows for longer wearing times and higher load-bearing capacity.
Individual support
From the initial decision to the first day of school: We advise and support you throughout the entire process.
Who is this care suitable for?
The endo-exo prosthesis is designed for people with upper and lower extremity amputations for whom a conventional socket prosthesis is not a long-term solution. Reasons for this may include chronic skin irritation or unstable residual limb conditions. This technology can also improve the quality of life for active individuals with high mobility needs. In cooperation with certified centers – such as Rostock University Medical Center – we offer you individualized, interdisciplinary consultation.
Here’s what our customers say
Receive sensitive, technically sound and individual advice.
We offer comprehensive advice on the opportunities, limitations, and requirements of endo-exo prosthetic devices, and are happy to connect you with other endo-exo prosthesis recipients. Together with doctors, therapists, and our technical team, we develop a treatment plan that truly fits your lifestyle. Naturally, we also support your rehabilitation phase with services such as our in-house gait training program.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is an endo-exo prosthesis?
An endo-exo prosthesis combines an implant stem anchored in the bone with an externally attachable prosthesis. The connection is made transcutaneously, i.e., through the skin, thus eliminating the need for a traditional stem.
What are the advantages of an endo-exo prosthesis in everyday life?
They benefit from greater freedom of movement, increased comfort, reduced skin stress, and a noticeably more natural gait. Putting on and taking off the prosthesis is also significantly easier.
How does the process of receiving an endo-exo prosthesis work?
Following an interdisciplinary consultation, and if appropriate, surgery is performed in two stages: First, the implant stem is inserted. After approximately 4–6 weeks, the transcutaneous connection is made. The fitting of your prosthesis then begins at our facility, accompanied by physiotherapy and gait training.
Who is a candidate for endo-exo surgery?
Patients with chronic problems with socket fitting, such as skin irritations or unstable stumps, as well as people with increased activity demands, can benefit from this technique.
How long does the entire process take?
From the initial consultation to the finished use of the prosthesis, several weeks to a few months usually pass, depending on your individual situation and the surgical aftercare.
Will the health insurance cover the costs?
Coverage must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We will support you in communicating with the health insurance provider and supply all necessary medical and technical documents for the application.
