Our former apprentice Paul Schmitt
At the age of 20, Paul Schmidt developed bone cancer in his right leg. He initially received a tumour endoprosthesis, but it became inflamed. This led to an amputation in 2016 – a knee disarticulation was performed. Due to an inflammation, the thigh was reamputated a year later.
Despite the amputation, Paul continues to do a lot of sport – weight training, archery, boxing, kayaking and bouldering.
Paul Schmidt completed his retraining as an orthopaedic technician with us, now works in his trained profession and is also cared for by us.
